About Us
The practice was set up by Ian Megahy in 1994 as Ark Veterinary Group by purchasing the Coatbridge and Holytown branches of Shearer and McGregor Vets. Ken joined the surgery as a partner later that year and the surgeries were fully refurbished and modernised.
The practice continued to grow and by the time Iain Livingstone joined in 2000 there were 4 vets and seven lay staff. Iain Livingstone became a partner in 2002, however unfortunately Ian Megahy had to retire through ill health. Madonna joined the practice in 2004, expanding the exotics side once again.
On 1st January 2007 the partnership became a limited company now trading as Ark Veterinary Clinics Ltd.
In July 2009 we took possession of the unit next door allowing us to double our floor space and complete a total refurbishment of our Coatbridge surgery.
We are proud to say we are a fully independent practice and remain the only independent practice in our area. We tailor you pets health care to suit your pet and activity level. We are THE FIRST practice in Scotland to achieve Platinum Accreditation in Compassion Understood.
None of our staff are on bonuses or performance related pay. That means you can rest assured that if a course of treatment or surgical procedure is recommended then it is due to the fact we believe your pet needs it.
The practice has continued to grow and we now have four full time vets, five part time vets and eighteen lay staff.
